jameson whisky was founded by John Jameson. Jameson built his whisky distillery in Dublin in the year 1780. The cork distillers Company joined forces with their rivals John Jameson and John Powers to form the Irish Distillers Group in 1966. The Midleton distillery built by the Irish Distillers is producing now most of the Irish whisky sold in Ireland.
Jameson irish whisky is produced from a mixture of malted and unmalted Irish barley. Malted barley is barley that has been allowed to germinate by steeping it in water. The barley is then dried in a closed kiln to preserve its clean malty flavors.
